Adoption Cost
If you are thinking about adopting a child, one of the first questions will be about the adoption cost. Adoption costs vary widely, depending on whether you have a domestic or international adoption and, what type of adoption you have.
At Golden Cradle®, we believe in being honest and ethical about our fees. As a first step, we are providing this fee overview so you know - up-front - what type of costs you can expect when you adopt.
Domestic Adoption Cost
Domestic Pooled Program Fees (based on income): $16,000 or $26,500
A domestic pooled program is for families interested in infants of all races and backgrounds. The Pooled Expense Program has a flat fee to insure an equitable distribution of birth parent costs among all families.
This fee includes application fee; education program; child placement; birth parent services/support and surrenders; and medical for birth mother and delivery of the child. It does not include finalization fees of attorney, post placement supervision, home study, fingerprint & child abuse clearances.
Domestic Identified Program Fees: $11,200
If you have already identified and connected with a birth parent, we can help you through the process. Even though you have identified the birth parent, you will still need adoption services and support.
This fees includes application fee, child placement and birth parent services and surrenders. It does not include birth parent and child medical, birth parent support, finalization fees of attorney, post placement supervision, home study, fingerprint & child abuse clearances.
International Adoption Cost
We can do different types of international adoptions, such as Independent Adoption (Hague and non-Hague) and outgoing adoptions.
Hague Outgoing Pooled Expense Adoptions: $26,500
If you are overseas looking to adopt a child in the US, we can help you through our Hague Outgoing Pooled Expense Adoptions. The Pooled Expense Program has a flat fee to insure an equitable distribution of birth parent costs among all families.
This fee includes application fee, child placement, birth parent services/support, medical for birth mother and delivery of child. It does not include finalization fees of attorney, post placement supervision, home study, fingerprint & child abuse clearances.
Hague Outgoing Identified Adoptions: $15,700
If you are overseas and have already identified and connected with a United States birth parent, we can help you through the process. Even though you have identified the birth parent, you will still need the state-required education as well as other services.
This fees includes application fee, child placement and birth parent services. It does not include birth parent and child medical, birth parent support, finalization fees of attorney, post placement supervision, home study, fingerprint & child abuse clearances.
Adoption Service Provider for Hague Independent Adoptions: $3,500
The Hague Convention requires that a Hague Accredited Adoption Service Provider (ASP) be involved in all adoptions of children coming into the United States from a Hague country. Other costs for international adoptions varies widely. Please call us and we can discuss your specific needs.
Home Study and ACI
Domestic Adoption: $1100
International Adoption: $1500

Adoption cost help
There are a few areas that could help you defray some of the adoption costs:
- You definitely need to look at the adoption cost tax credit. Talk with your tax adviser to determine how much of a credit you might be able to receive.
- Talk to your employer, as many employers offer adoption cost help, which can include paid and unpaid leave and full or partial reimbursement of your adoption fees.
