Raising a child from infancy to adulthood is one of the most important decisions and commitments that anyone can make and Golden Cradle is committed to helping and preparing you to become adoptive parents. The Home Study, required by all states, helps you to assess your readiness to parent, and prepares you for parenting and ensures the meeting of state requirements.

     We also offer a three part adoption education series that prepares you for the all issues that are related to adoption. Topics include: adoption from the birth mother's view, hearing about adoption from families who have already adopted both domestically and internationally, the laws and regulations and how they effect you and your family, cultural and race issues in the adopted family, and positive adoption language. These sessions are conducted on a continuous basis and you can join in and complete the cycle easily and conveniently. Hearing from people who have placed children for adoption, and from those who have already adopted is the best way to get informed about adoption.

     The Home Study consists of interviews (usually two) and the collection of a number of documents:

• Autobiographies written by the adoptive applicants
• Medical Reports
• Financial Statements
• Four reference letters - 2 Personal, 1 Neighbor, and 1 Employer (a colleague if self employed)
• Verification of life insurance
• Fingerprinting (State and FBI)
• Child Abuse History Record Checks
• Well-water testing (if applicable)
• Marriage license and divorce decree (if applicable)
