Golden Cradle has a Post-Legal Adoption Services Department. This department is headed by a trained social worker who has many years of experience with helping birthparents and adoptive families after the adoption of the child is finalized. Birthparents are encouraged to contact her to provide the agency with updated information on their lives, such as changes in address, medical updates, marriages, additional children, completion of educational programs, and/or the meeting of career goals. The worker is here for you. . . you can call her if you just want to talk. One of the important services that the PLAS worker may provide to you concerns correspondence, if you have an arrangement in which you correspond with your adoptive family through the agency, the PLAS worker will forward your letters to the adoptive family and will also send their letters to you. As time goes by, people sometimes open up their adoption, and the PLAS worker will be there for you to help you through the years.
