How Long Does It Take to Adopt a Child?

The average time to placement is 2 years after the home study is completed and approved.  Your actual time is highly dependent on many factors including your flexibility and requirements of the adopting family. Your specific waiting time can be greater or shorter then the average time.   With help from the Golden Cradle staff, the Adopting family prepares a profile – a 1 or 2 page document with photos and a letter that tells a little about themselves.  This is shared with families who are interested in placing their child for adoption.
